Urmi Samadar
Director of Action Learning, MIT Sloan School of Management
Urmi leads Action Learning, a pillar of the MIT Sloan educational experience that engages over 100 faculty and mentors, 950 students and more than 200 host organizations annually, in an immersive project-based learning journey. Urmi and her team focus on methods to advance this community of practice by building awareness and understanding of Action Learning, developing best practices, and undertaking research that engages both academia and businesses. A former career advisor for MIT Sloan MBAs, Urmi designed and led educational programs targeting career strategies for millennials and strengthened recruiting opportunities with startups and entrepreneurial ventures. Prior to her transition to management education, Urmi gained extensive experience addressing growth challenges for technology players both in India and in the US. She was a business development lead for ICICI’s tech venture and a venture-backed payment startup in Bangalore, and a consultant at Oliver Wyman, where she led projects for global tech leaders. Urmi holds an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and is also a professional Indian classical dancer who leads a dance academy and performs widely with her ensemble.
